YHA Sherwood Forest - Hostel

It’s very convenient for getting into the forest: the visitor’s centre is across the road, and the trails are about a two minute walk away. The service was phenomenal, and the food was superb quality and tasted great both morning and evening. The rooms were more than enough for a stopover, with plenty of utility services available. It’s a wonderful place to stay when visiting the area. I’ll definitely come again, even just for a bite if I can.

We hired the whole place for a weekend with a group of 35. The rooms worked perfectly for families, with double beds and bunk beds, and everything was very clean. Linen was provided, though we needed to bring our own towels. There’s an upstairs lounge and a large shared dining and social area downstairs, adjoining the kitchen. The location was great for walks in Sherwood Forest and about a 15 minute walk from the Major Oak. Pubs, cafes and shops are around a 10 minute walk away. The cricket club opposite provided some relaxing entertainment.

We came for a rugby tour, and the setup made it a stress free stay. The facilities are ideal for an event with lots of adults and children, and the area is amazing. It’s self catering, and I had no complaints apart from there being nowhere to put rubbish. There were no bins.

Our church booked the entire building, and it was a fantastic place with a great setup and everything we needed. The rooms and showers were great, and the whole place was kept very clean. The kitchen worked well, and the upstairs lounge was really comfortable. Sherwood Forest visitors centre and the Major Oak are just a walk away, with lots to see and do nearby. Shops are walkable too if you need anything.
