A very helpful Sinita found us other accommodation and sorted out the problem, and fortunately no payment had gone through, so there was no refund to chase. Still, those few stressful hours on my birthday were something I could have done without. We'd booked two nights DBnB as a birthday treat, but arrived to find the place in darkness. We were told the chef was off sick, so there'd be no dinner, and that they don't serve dinner on Sundays. That hadn't been clear at booking. The only offer was a £50 reduction. The room was meant to have been refurbished, but smelled damp, had no bedside lights, and we were told there were no other guests that evening. We decided not to stay, but were warned we might not get a refund because it was less than 48 hours before arrival. Since we weren't getting what we'd originally contracted for, that didn't seem acceptable.

The afternoon tea was delicious, and everyone had a wonderful time at the Baby Shower. We especially loved the adorable watermelon baby pram, it was so cute. Thank you to everyone at the Royal Hotel Elgin, and especially Carole, for helping me arrange such a special event. We were so happy with how everything turned out. Highly recommend!

The meals were excellent, and the staff were very helpful and friendly. This would make a good base for exploring the countryside, especially in nice weather when you can enjoy the fantastic scenery. We enjoyed our stay at the Royal Hotel. When we last came about two years ago, it needed updating, but the rooms have all been upgraded since then. The difference is remarkable, you'd hardly think it was the same room we stayed in before. I'd recommend staying here.

I've been staying at the royal for a year while I'm in Elgin for college, and it's really relaxed. The staff are helpful and always willing to sort out any problems. I wouldn't really want to stay anywhere else.

Breakfast is fresh and delicious, especially the hashbrowns. Hot dishes are ordered and brought to your table, while the cold choices are self-serve. The buffet has cereal, milk, toast, yogurt and three kinds of pastries. The rooms are clean and well looked after.
