Even coming all the way from Australia, The Shippon felt like a home away from home. It’s a beautiful spot right across the road from the Mere and The Boat House on the Mere restaurant, with town, woods and lots of walks within walking distance. The accommodation was clean, warm and very quiet. Even with other people next door, we couldn’t hear them. The kitchen had everything we needed, and the lounge and bedroom were comfortable. There’s also a walk-in shower and a lovely outdoor area. Nicky was a wonderful host, and her husband Rodney makes yummy pork pies and sausage rolls. We really loved our stay. Thank you!

The owner was friendly, the location was good, and the rooms were clean. The kitchen was fully equipped and the beds very comfortable. I’d return.

We stayed for three nights and felt really welcome. It’s a friendly place with a comfortable room and everything we needed. The location is great, right opposite the mere, near the canal and just a short walk into town.

The Shippon was a great place for our five-night stay. The enclosed courtyard meant our dog could wander safely, and the pork pies were delicious. We had a lovely time, and it was very dog friendly.

There were thoughtful extras in the apartment, including games and puzzles, plus nice coffee and milk. The kitchen was well equipped, the bed linen and towels were lovely, and parking was good. I could hear road noise at night and early in the morning, and there was a slight fishy smell coming from the storeroom below. I’d use the place again.
