That 20-minute walk through the fields is well worth it. We’ve eaten here lots of times and the food has been fantastic every visit. It’s a lovely pub, with friendly, welcoming staff, and a great place to pop in for a drink.

The breakfast was nice. I had poached eggs on toast because I didn’t have time for a full English, and the eggs were perfect. I stayed one night for work in a cosy single room with everything I needed. The pub was lovely and the stay was pleasant, though the bathroom needed a better clean. There was dust on the shelf, grime around the sink and shower plugholes, and a bad drain smell from the sink.

We won’t be back after tonight. There were six of us having dinner with friends, so that’s a substantial amount of money for a weekday meal, and I wouldn’t recommend the place. The starters were presented terribly, and when one guest ordered salt and chilli chips, they got plain chips that were taken back and dusted with chilli. The chicken schnitzel was just butterflied chicken breast cooked in batter. We ate here in the summer and the food was lovely then, which makes tonight disappointing. They couldn’t even offer an Irish coffee.

We found this pub by chance and it turned out to be a little gem. The staff were lovely, and it’s super dog friendly, with a nice space inside and out. Our Sunday dinner was gorgeous, especially the pork with its good crackling. I couldn’t fault a thing. Delicious, and we’ll definitely be back. I’d recommend it.
