Finn Lough

The staff were so friendly and ready to help, and breakfast was delicious, delivered to our room the next morning. We also had a complimentary sauna and cycled around the lake. My boyfriend and I had an amazing stay at Finn Lough. The luxurious bubble domes have everything you need, plus a relaxing bath where you can hear the birds outside. They’re gated for privacy, too. Dinner was 10/10. We chose the sharing menu and every plate was delicious, especially the mushroom toast. Cocktails at the bar were perfect, then we watched a film in the movie room and took the shuttle back to our dome to stargaze. Such a dreamy, unique experience for a special occasion 😊

The staff were lovely and helpful throughout, and the sauna itself is gorgeous, with views over the lake. It’s free from 8.30am to 10.30am, but when I arrived at opening it was stone cold and didn’t warm up until about 09.10am. It needs to be switched on around 45 minutes earlier. The cabins are nice and fairly spacious, about the size of a hotel room, with a comfortable bed, a large bathroom and a Bluetooth speaker. The restaurant was a big letdown: the portions were tiny, and after spending £100 on food I was still hungry. The breakfast bap was okay but didn’t fill me either. It came in a wooden box at the cabin gate. For the price, it feels poor value. It’s very expensive and should be five-star standard, but falls short. I’m being generous with four stars.

Barry, I think that was his name, was the real star of the evening at the bar. He was so passionate about his work and made 10/10 cocktails. The restaurant was amazing too, with one of the best steaks I’ve had, and all the staff were lovely. We also enjoyed the breakfast, especially the homemade juice, which I think was pear. We stayed one night and had an incredible experience. The spa was absolutely 10/10, private and quiet, and the pod was clean and luxurious. It got quite cold overnight, though there was a heater, and the shower went cold during my first shower, so there wasn’t much hot water available. There was also a data breach. Our personal details were leaked to scammers, who hounded us with calls and messages from various numbers, and we didn’t get much of an apology. We tried to put that aside and enjoy our stay. Apart from that, it was a great experience and we’d definitely return.

The restaurant food was lovely and all the staff were really nice. But our forest bubble dome was compact, with what was basically a wet-room bathroom, and the heating didn’t seem to work. For the price, I expected more little details in the room. There was no breakfast choice, and the dome hadn’t been cleaned to the highest standard. It was nice as a one-off, but I definitely wouldn’t pay to go back. It feels like a bit of a rip-off and is very overpriced for what you get.
