I slept really peacefully, with no unwanted noise, and the evening burger special was tasty. The rooms are clean, comfortable, and very good. Breakfast was delicious too, especially the full English, and it would set you up for the day. The staff were pleasant in a natural way. It’s a very nice place to relax, and if I lived nearby I’d make it my local. I’ll book again.

The room had a good amount of space, a comfortable bed, and a nice en-suite. There’s a large car park, with disabled parking near the entrance. Staff were polite and helpful, and both breakfast and dinner were cooked just right, with a nice choice of menus.

The bathrooms have been refurbished, but the rest of the hotel feels untouched. The carpets and old windows are still there, and the windows don’t block sound, so road noise carries even in a room away from the road. It feels like the company only did half the job. The location is good, and staff were helpful.

The food was average at best, but the service was appalling. When we asked whether a dessert contained nuts, one staff member was rude, arrogant, and condescending. I understood her concern at first, but the conversation turned sour. She said my son would be contacted within a few days about an allergy, and the way the policy was delivered was the problem. While we were eating, my 16-year-old son was told to write his name, address, phone number, and email on a scrap of paper. I let that go, but when I paid the £225 bill I was told they would still be contacting him. I called to complain and was told the general manager wasn’t on site and they used scrap paper because the office was locked. After a while, it turned out the general manager was available in his unlocked office. The worst service I’ve ever come across.
