Weeke Barton

The house is full of character and beautiful, in the middle of stunning Devon countryside. Jo and Sam were warm, thoughtful and attentive hosts who went above and beyond to make the stay special. We booked all of Weeke Barton for a special occasion and couldn’t have picked a better place. Highly recommend it for a memorable getaway!

Sam and Joe have a lovely, easy going way of hosting, while still taking care of every detail. We’ve stayed at lots of boutique hotels, and their warmth really stands out. You can see years of care and thought in the 14th century long house, which has been reimagined with the stylish, cozy modern edge you’d hope for. We felt completely at home, and had delicious homemade breakfast and supper. Our labrador was especially taken with Winston, the extremely friendly house doggy, his new best friend! We’d highly recommend it to dog lovers and anyone wanting a cozy base for the beautiful countryside nearby.

The house setup means you can hear noise through the doors and walls, and a large separate wedding party made it quite noisy at times during our weekend. That wasn’t the owner’s fault, though. We still had a lovely stay and would definitely recommend this quirky guest house. The owners were welcoming from the start, gave us a tour, and answered all our questions. Our room was clean, the bed incredibly comfy, and the shower powerful. We also liked the little extras, including the honesty bar, DVD library and text system for ordering breakfast. Breakfast was delicious.

The whole place worked beautifully for a big family birthday. We could all gather in the dining room to toast the birthday boy, take our time over breakfast at the outside table, and the older members liked settling the world’s problems at the bar. The younger cousins loved having room to run and play, while everyone could relax outdoors in the beautiful surroundings. The bedrooms were luxurious too.
