Oasis House

I booked direct at a great price, as booking.com was more expensive. The apartment has everything, and I’d book it again at that lower price, though it needs some TLC. Handles and toilet holders were coming loose, there were holes in the wall, and the sofa bed was stained. I emailed them about those problems. The electricity shorted during the night, but when I spoke to someone, they were quick to help. I imagine the garden and summerhouse must be lovely in summer.

The main issue was hearing the neighbours through thin walls and creaky floorboards. The room was small but functional, and the bed and pillows were clean and comfortable. The ensuite was tiny, with a shower, little basin and toilet, but there was no toilet roll. The road outside had double yellow lines, so I found a space about 300 yards away.

For the price, it was pretty disappointing, and I probably wouldn’t recommend it or come back. The room was much smaller than expected and cramped for two, with a tiny bathroom too. There were cracks in the wall, stains on the pillow and carpet, and mould in the shower. The TV was small and awkward to watch from bed. The shared kitchen wasn’t especially clean, and the fridge was packed with other people’s stuff. It’s at the top of a hill, not great if you’re on foot, and you can hear people in the other rooms.

The room was clean and tidy, and the place is near the city centre with some off road parking. The bathroom, though, was tiny, with the smallest sink and shower I’ve seen. There’s no fridge in the room, and the shared kitchen fridge was stuffed with food belonging to who knows who. Parking is limited to two cars, so it could be tricky if all the guests drive. Street parking is scarce too, with double yellow lines.
