The Mariners

There's a quiet, peaceful sitting area at the back, and plenty of places to relax. Out front, the beer garden has views over the marina. It's a friendly pub with rooms beside Falmouth Marina, with a warm welcome on arrival. It could be a handy first stop for refreshments after a cruise ship or a long drive into the car park. There's a pool table and gaming machines on site. I haven't stayed in the rooms, so can't comment from experience, though my research suggests it would be a lovely stay.

That breakfast was amazing! Top-quality ingredients, cooked and presented perfectly: two eggs, two bacon rashers, a sausage, mushrooms, beans, black pudding, sausage slice, properly cooked tomato, cheese-stuffed hash brown and thick wholemeal toast. I didn't need anything else all day. The room was clean, spacious and modern, and I couldn't have asked for more. I'd booked a single room as a solo traveller, but they'd already moved me up to an excellent double with harbour views. I arrived early and was allowed to check in ahead of time. Lisa was exceptionally helpful on the phone when I first enquired, and just as professional, friendly and helpful in person. Thank you all. If you're lucky, there's limited free parking right outside. It's a two-minute walk to the harbour and three minutes to the town centre. The Mariners was absolutely spot on for my short stay.

Some basics were missing: rooms weren't cleaned during our stay, mugs and towels weren't refreshed, and the toilet paper ran out without being replaced. The staff were friendly enough, but very young and inexperienced, and the service felt lackadaisical. Still, it's an affordable, well-located option in Falmouth. Chris is very welcoming, and there's a great breakfast, a pool table to use and a pub garden.

I went in last night, a Sunday, and it was quiet, with sport on. It's right in town, with great views and nearby shops. Prices were very good, most beers were under £5, and the manager was really friendly.
