The Manor House Hotel

The food was the best I've tasted in ages, and it was good value, with ice cream included in the children's meals. I went with my mam and my two daughters, and the staff were so kind and patient even when my four year old ran around. She cheekily asked for more spaghetti hoops, and one of the ladies got the chef to bring her some. She was over the moon. It was a lovely, peaceful meal, and they really look after their customers. Definitely would go again.

We used to rave about Sunday lunch here under the previous management, when it was so lovely and better than we expected. This visit was a letdown. We'd booked ahead, but they didn't seem ready for us when we arrived. We had to wait while they wiped and polished a clear table that nobody even sat at, then waited 45 minutes for lunch. Keeping two hungry kids occupied that long was hard, especially as the place wasn't even very busy. The food was average at best. Very disappointing, and we won't be back.

The room was clean and pleasant, and very good for the price. Staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast, though, was continental style, not the great northern breakfast you might expect, and even that was missing quite a bit, with no cheese or rolls and hardly any butter. Apart from that, it was good value.

The building was beautiful, and the staff were really nice and friendly. Service took a while, though there were several parties and a band performing at once, so the staff were busy. They apologized profusely and were some of the nicest staff I've come across in a while. When the food arrived, it was phenomenal and not overpriced. I had a great experience and would go again, though I'd probably check whether other events were happening at the same time.
