The Bay Filey Holiday Village

The pool was fantastic and never busy, and the steam room and sauna were great too. The gym had plenty of equipment, and dinner at the pub was worth the price, even though it cost more than the local pub. We were here for three nights for my birthday and found a sweet card waiting for us. I’m picky, but this little toy town village was a dream. We loved it and hope to return.

There’s a pharmacy and shop on site, plus a restaurant next to the bar, and both places serve food at fair prices. I’m used to high prices coming from Essex, but £6.80 for a pint of Sharps Atlantic pale felt steep. The alternative was the dreaded Doombar 🤮, and perhaps the free electricity and gas help explain the bar prices. You can get to the beach along a steep concrete and tarmac track. There’s also a Haven camp next door with a Wetherspoons, though we couldn’t use it with our dogs, assuming dogs are allowed there. The mix of lodges and proper holiday homes makes this a good place to visit all year, and I’d happily return despite the bar prices.

We loved the private house we rented, and the village itself was clean, well kept, and lovely. The pub was a letdown, though. Its food and drinks were poor, cold, and overpriced, so we ended up cooking for ourselves. We wouldn’t eat or drink there again.

We had a wonderful Christmas at the Bay, and the cottages were lovely, with plenty to do nearby and a great location. The leisure centre could have been cleaner. The beach was close, but the scooter we hired didn’t have enough power to get back up the hill, so I missed going down there. That was disappointing, though we still had a great time.
