We booked a Saturday night at short notice and arrived late, but were very pleased with our clean, nicely decorated room. The en-suite looked recently renovated to a good standard, and the rest of the building had also had a recent makeover, with interesting decor throughout. We enjoyed the Nepalese menu, including as vegetarians who eat fish, and the staff were helpful and attentive. There were two real ales to choose from, and we ended up drinking far too much Summer Lightning Golden Ale. It was really on form. Breakfast was enjoyable too, with a veggie full English and good veggie sausages. The stay really made our weekend.

The rooms were clean and comfortable, and we had a great three-day stay between Christmas and New Year. There were lots of ales and beers to choose from, the staff were attentive, and the food selection was excellent, including a Nepalese menu. We'd definitely recommend it.

The room was fine for a night, and the price was good for the area. The bed wasn't especially comfortable, and the hotel could use a little TLC, but breakfast was filling and satisfying. We didn't have dinner, though the menu looked interesting. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and I'd stay again.

We came to The Compasses Inn for the food, so I can't comment on the rooms. The Nepalese dishes were authentic and full of flavour. Our goat curry and starters were fantastic, a real treat for the taste buds. There were four of us, and we'll certainly return.

The Nepalise Gurka menu is especially delicious, and the curries are the best around. Well worth making a special trip for.
