We stopped in on the spur of the moment for lunch with a big group. The staff made space for us easily and were really friendly, and the food came out quickly and tasted great. There are several different rooms to sit in, all nicely decorated, and they had high chairs too. A great spot.

That cheesy garlic bread was some of the best I've had, and the customer service was very good. We both ordered jacket potatoes when we had lunch here a couple of days ago. My wife really enjoyed the pulled pork, while my beef chilli was nice, though there wasn't much meat in it. Neither of us seemed to get the advertised “salad,” though.

We'd seen a few mixed reviews and weren't sure about eating here, but our early dinner turned out really well. My wife had the seafood jacket potato and I had fish and chips. Both meals were excellent, and the service was great.

We had breakfast in a beautiful dining room, with that river view again. The sausages and hogs pudding were good quality and cooked really well. Our room at the Galleon Inn was spotless, with a huge, very comfortable bed, and waking up to the mist over the water through the double windows was lovely. It really felt like being on a boat. We stayed one night and had a perfect time. The Ship Inn is charming and atmospheric for an evening out. Highly recommend.

The chicken was well cooked and tasted good, but the value was appalling. For £11, I got a tiny flatbread, about 4 inches across, with just a little shredded lettuce and salsa and a few slices of chicken breast. We left hungry and had to buy something else to eat. Best avoided.
