We sat outside on a warm spring day and enjoyed the atmosphere. The haggis and beef burger was delicious and so filling that, embarrassingly, I couldn’t finish it. Prices were reasonable, the staff were very friendly, and it’s right in the heart of Galashiels for easy access. Definitely recommend.

The portions were huge. The chicken salad trio was excellent, and the burgers were bigger than my head. Staff were friendly and welcoming too. They added a discretionary 10 percent service charge, which I don’t mind because the service was good, though it seems to be common now. We’ll be back.

We’d gone on someone’s recommendation, but the atmosphere put us off straight away. Three male locals at the bar were loudly having a very sexist, misogynistic conversation, with disgraceful language. One of them seemed unable to say two words without swearing. I was there with my partner and felt completely embarrassed. I felt sorry for the barmaid having to listen, though she could have stepped in quietly. We didn’t feel welcome, so we decided not to eat and won’t return.

The food was average and expensive, and the bar staff were shocking. I was treated like crap by the barman, Dan, I believe, and we were overcharged for our drinks. My wife wanted to kick off, and I should have let her. Dreadful place.

There’s parking close by, and the staff were friendly and attentive. We had a lovely meal, with plenty of menu choices and something for everyone.
