It was full on a cold, wet night, so clearly the place draws people in. Inside, the large pub is divided into smaller rooms of different sizes that meet in the middle, which works well for a date, family gathering or party. There’s a lovely atmosphere, great food and service, and excellent staff. Breakfast was excellent too. The gardens have plenty of seating and lighting. You can stay in the pub or in one of two sets of rooms in the garden car park. Our room was darker than we’d like, but the bed had four good pillows and was very comfortable. The heating was easy to adjust and nice and warm, which my always-cold good lady appreciated. It’s well placed for visiting lots of local attractions.

We booked a double superior room from Australia and were in for a lovely surprise. It was spacious, quiet and well equipped, and had a great shower. All the meals we tried were really delicious, with plenty of variety. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I’d highly recommend the hotel for a stay or a meal.

Julie and Lucy looked after us. The room was fantastic and had everything we needed. Breakfast was perfect, with muffins as well as cooked options. We’d definitely stay again!

We’d had an awful experience at another hotel nearby, so we moved to Ravensworth for the rest of our stay. Ross checked us in with such kindness and warmth, and we’ll definitely return. It’s a beautiful hotel with chalet rooms, and the staff are welcoming, friendly and helpful. Can’t fault this lovely place!

The pub itself was beautiful, x. But our Sunday lunch at about 12.30pm was a letdown: the vegetables were overcooked, the stuffing tasted like paxo, and the gravy was like bisto. The beef was well done even though the menu said it would be served pink, and to top it all off, it was cold.
