Queen Guest house

I'm a student, and this happened at a really difficult time for me. I paid £120 for a two-day stay, including an extra £20, but my appointment was rescheduled, so I called the next day to cancel. The woman was rude, condescending, insulting and disrespectful. She said she could keep the money and nothing would happen, and that I could do nothing about it. I didn't use the hotel and got no refund at all, not even the £20 she was supposed to return after my stay. I tried calling to explain, but the way she spoke to me was degrading. I'm heartbroken and disappointed I got involved with her. I need my money back. She keeps doing this to people and getting away with it. She is the worst person I've ever heard of.

The host was the rudest I've encountered at a guest house. She was outside in the dark in her pyjamas when we arrived and asked strange questions before letting us in, like how we got there, even though she'd seen our vehicle, and whether we'd just come from work. The property had no electricity, so it was cold and dark. When I asked where our room was, she said upstairs. I couldn't see, and she told me to use my phone torch. I'd recently had a serious injury and didn't want to walk around an unfamiliar property in the dark. She wouldn't say how long the power problem would take to fix, only that she was going to fix it. We left rather than waste more time. As we were going, she abruptly gave up trying to fix the electricity and left the house.

Poor place, avoid if you can. There were loose wires on the room floor, the kettle was dirty and the milk in the room had gone off. The plywood under the mattress was broken, and the owner was rude. We asked to change rooms and did, for an extra fee, which I didn't mind because the new room was bigger. But then the bathroom flooded into the kitchen. When my wife phoned to tell her, the owner hung up on her. We booked three nights and stayed only one. I know it's a budget place, but it shouldn't be like that. I only gave a star so I could post this. I really didn't want to give them anything.

The room was comfy and warm, and we had a flat-screen TV, fridge, bed and coffee table. The last place we stayed in this area cost more and didn't even have a flat-screen. The lady who owns the guesthouse was welcoming. We enjoyed the weekend and will stay again.
