We had such a comfortable, cosy stay at Glanhenwye, and Kevin and Hilary were perfect hosts. The scenery around Glasbury is breathtaking, with energising walks nearby. Glasbury itself is charming, and Hay on Wye was a complete delight. We felt right at home and will be back. Thanks, Glanhenwye!

Waking up to wildlife right outside the windows, including adorable wild rabbits, was a lovely part of our stay. The walks nearby are incredible, and the cottages have great views. They’re spacious, lovely, and surprisingly modern inside. The owners are really nice, courteous, and welcoming. We had a wonderful time here, and I’d say do yourself a favour and stay at least a weekend.

The owner was kind and attentive, and gave us walking routes and suggestions for places to visit. The rooms in this Welsh establishment were spacious, stocked with the essentials, and had everything we needed. There’s a nice play area for kids, which gave them something to do when we got back from our walks. We had a fantastic stay and would highly recommend it.

We had a small family reunion in the Hayloft, and it worked really well for us. It was warm, with large bedrooms and comfortable beds. The kitchen, dining, and living area was spacious, sociable, and well equipped. There was also a list of other items you could easily get if they weren’t in the cupboards. Our four-legged family member was welcome and well catered for, with blankets, a great garden, and plenty of walks. Julie was very welcoming and had good local walking, running, and eating tips. Glanhenwye is a great place to explore the countryside, and we’d definitely recommend it.

The week was a great one for all of us, and it’s hard to fault the place. We had a big family group and the outdoor space gave us and the dogs plenty of room to play and sit without being on top of each other. Undercover table tennis, a climbing wall, and lots of other games kept us busy at the house. There were clear recycling instructions and bins, which mattered to us. The houses are beautiful, tastefully furnished, comfortable and homely, with well equipped kitchens and lots of thoughtful practical extras like dog blankets, towels, dishes, and portable bbqs. The oven in the hayloft is missing a set of brackets, so be careful with big dishes as they could fall down at the back. Nick and Julie did everything they could to make sure we had a good holiday, and there’s lots of local guidance, maps, and printed guides. The surrounding area is stunning, with loads to do outdoors, gorgeous hills and mountains, and lots of wildlife. Canoeing and horse riding nearby were both great fun. The keen cyclists in our group had a brilliant time on the hills. We drove to the red kite centre, which was spectacular. There are lovely pubs within a 20 minute walk, and Foyles restaurant gave us a beautiful meal on our last night celebrating two big birthdays. Take care walking beside the road, especially with dogs and small children, as it’s fast and can be busy. The verges are large enough to manage, and you cross into fields and get to the village quite quickly. It’s a beautiful place to stay and well located for exploring the area.
