Coachman Hotel

We kept our bikes there and the staff were very kind about storing them safely. The family room was clean, modern and spacious, even with two teenage boys. We stayed overnight, had both dinner and breakfast, and enjoyed the food on both occasions. Dinner was very busy, but service was quick. There was a function on, yet the rooms stayed very quiet.

The food is delicious, service is good, and there’s a separate menu with great vegan choices. A couple of years ago I had the most delicious burger I’ve ever tasted here, the Krispy Kreme burger. Sadly, they don’t offer it anymore.

For my dad’s 60th in Sep ‘24, I booked the private function room for a big family dinner. The staff were excellent, accommodating and really helpful. They even offered to play music for us. The food was good and the portions generous. Huge thanks to everyone who helped make the evening special.

We waited nearly an hour for a prawn cocktail, then halfway through found something in it. I couldn’t tell what it was. It looked like a mouldy toenail, perhaps a piece of chicken skin, but I’m not sure. The food standards were appalling, especially after such a long wait. The chef should be thoroughly ashamed to send a dish out like that. I’ve been here once before, and it was fantastic, with excellent food and service. Yesterday was a completely different story. In the hotel’s defence, the manageress was very nice and apologetic, though it wasn’t her fault. The waiting staff were also apologetic and embarrassed, and this wasn’t their fault either. It was beyond the control of management and the servers. I don’t think we’ll be back, but I do want to thank the management and waiting staff for their excellent service.
