The room was cosy and nicely furnished, and felt like home the whole time. Tom and his wife were the friendliest hosts I've met after staying at lots of B&Bs. Tom welcomed us on the first evening with delicious chicken sandwiches and a hot pot of tea, just what we needed after a long travel day. Breakfast was fantastic, with a good choice of food and drinks. We also got to meet some incredibly lovely fellow travellers. I'd definitely come back!

The location is quiet, so Anne and I slept well, and breakfast was excellent. Tom is a perfect host and Christine is lovely too. This was our second stay at the claremont guest house, and it didn't disappoint. Looking forward to coming back. Mark
The location is very quiet, with easy transport connections. This was one of the best B&Bs we've stayed in: the room was charming, with interesting furniture, and a large comfortable bed. It was clean, the shower was excellent, and it had thoughtful features like a dehumidifier. Breakfast was a really good buffet.
We went looking for a comfortable, quiet place late last year, but the stay felt seriously unpleasant at the time. My partner wasn’t comfortable being alone in the room, and I’m not sure I was either. In hindsight we’ve managed to laugh about it, and if you’ve seen the late 90s TV show The League of Gentlemen, you’ll get the atmosphere. Dreadful on every level that matters. Getting into the place set the tone: we had to call the owner, then wait outside in the drizzle for someone to let us in. Once inside, we were given the wrong room. Only when we arrived were we told there was no wifi. My partner had mild food poisoning. The owner suggested he might “examine” her later, then handed me a loose handful of pills for her with his bare hands. I’m not claiming bad intentions, but it was a very strange thing to say and do. He also offered me whiskey and poured a glass in a separate room where I couldn’t see him. I took that as carelessness rather than anything malicious, though it looked bad. At 6.00am, drilling right outside our door in the hall woke us up. It was deafening, around 90 decibels, and went on for half an hour. There was no explanation or apology. Later, we were grumbled at for not coming down to breakfast, though I’d never said we would, after that early noise had woken us.
We felt at home as soon as we arrived at Claremont House B&B. Tom was such a warm, welcoming host, and had made us delicious hot tea. The house has a cozy, romantic feel, and our room was spacious, clean and comfortable. Breakfast was freshly prepared that morning, with vegetarian choices as well as traditional Scottish options. We’d gladly come back and recommend it to anyone.
