DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Glasgow Central

The room was spotlessly clean, and I found the pool area really clean too, despite seeing comments saying it was dirty. I’m not sure what was going on with the hot tub, though, as it looked like someone had put washing-up liquid in it. The changing rooms are tiny and have no cubicles. The woman at the club reception was super friendly. I came for the pool, but wish I’d stayed at CitizenM as I have for the past four years. The bed was like a rock, and the green security light made it feel like trying to sleep beside an airport landing light. Blackout curtains didn’t help when the room was still lit up. Room service arrived cold, which wasn’t great for poached eggs. The food was good quality, just disappointing that it wasn’t warm. There was building work on Sauchiehall St next to my original room, so I asked to move. I know the work wasn’t the hotel’s fault, but reception said there were no rooms. I would have preferred a refund and to go elsewhere. I turned down a room on a lower floor because it would have been even closer to the noise. Then suddenly a quieter room was available. I went out to an event, came back for the new key and found myself in the room I’d already refused. I called reception again and was finally moved to a quiet room on the other side of the hotel. I felt the receptionists thought it was funny to mess me around. I have a bad leg, so walking around the hotel with luggage for no reason was the last thing I needed.

Alice at reception really went above and beyond. Her friendliness, thoughtful attention and wonderful hospitality made everything feel seamless. The whole team was lovely, and the lobby has a very welcoming feel. Our room was clean and comfortable, and the location was perfect for exploring the city. A huge thank you to Alice and all the staff for such brilliant service!

Liam Higgins went out of his way to help at check-in, and our party even got an early check-in and welcome snacks. We were given adjoining rooms that were clean, warm and welcoming, with pristine sheets, comfy beds and a good strong shower. The pool and gym are great too, and shops and attractions are within walking distance. We arrived today for a two-night stay and are already very impressed. Would recommend.

Gayle was fantastic in the bar and restaurant, and the staff overall were friendly and dedicated. I’m at Glasgow Doubletree Central for three nights, delivering a course in the conference space. They upgraded me to an executive room, and I couldn’t be happier with the room, check-in or how clean everything is. The atmosphere is relaxing and enjoyable.
