Sherbrooke Castle Hotel

The room is spacious and dog friendly, with dog beds and bowls, and the hotel is just a moment from a good train station into central Glasgow. Colette at the front desk was welcoming and incredibly helpful when I arrived early with my dogs. She got our room ready earlier, brought us drinks, and booked lunch and dinner at the hotel. We felt very well looked after. Martin was kind and friendly to us and our pets, and helped carry our bags to the room. Staff like this made us look forward to our stay at this beautiful hotel, and the managers must be doing something right. During my stay, Jamal at the front of house and Susan and Suzanne in housekeeping were very effective. Jamal was truly brilliant, polite and efficient, and went beyond what was expected. Florin was also an amazing server at dinner. Full marks to all of them. I don’t usually add to reviews, but they really deserved it. We’ll come again!

Every person at Sherbrooke helped make our wedding day special. They were incredibly accommodating, even with some of our less conventional requests. Claire showed us around, took in all the details and helped get everything organized, while William looked after us so smoothly on the day. The woman at reception also went above and beyond, staying available and making sure things ran well. During our visits before the wedding, the owner made time to chat with us, which was a lovely touch. Thank you to the whole team at Sherbrooke, you couldn’t have done more for us.

The Christmas decorations made it feel cosy, and there was plenty of comfortable seating and parking. We came for dinner as six adults and two children, but didn’t stay overnight, so I can’t speak to the rooms. The food was okay for the price, though a few items weren’t what had been advertised. It wasn’t a huge issue, but I’d have appreciated being told. Staff were nice, especially the chap at reception, although the gaps between courses felt a bit long. I’d give it another try, as it may just have been a short-staffed night.

The afternoon tea was delicious, especially the sausage rolls, and the staff were friendly, courteous and efficient from the planning right through the day. We held Mum’s 80th birthday party here in February 2026, and everyone thought it was fantastic. The setting was beautiful, Mum was so happy, and the team really went above and beyond. One lovely young woman even showed our aunt around the hotel after hearing that she’d celebrated her wedding anniversary there 60 years earlier.
