Travelodge Glasgow Govan

We stayed for three nights recently and couldn’t fault the place. It was clean and comfortable, and the staff were friendly and helpful. My daughter has moved to the area, so I’ll be visiting regularly. Highly recommend.

The atmosphere is lovely, fun, and friendly. I was sitting with a Guinness and watched a couple of the brilliant staff being trained by a great trainer. At last, Travelodge has invested in a bar and food. Love this place, congratulations. I’ll be back.

This was a handy, inexpensive base for my first trip to Scotland, and I stayed here for the first two nights and the last one before heading home. It’s very close to Glasgow Airport. The rooms are small, but very clean. I’d avoid a ground-floor room facing the car park, though. People walk right by the windows, making it almost impossible to let in daylight without passersby looking in. The restaurant is useful since there’s nowhere else nearby except Wee Maggies Kitchen. It serves breakfast and dinner, but not lunch. You can order breakfast cooked to order or take food from the buffet, which sits on a hot stone, though some of it wasn’t warm. We braced ourselves for a noisy night during a Rangers match, especially after seeing people passing Buckfast around in the car park, but the crowd was well behaved and not too loud. My main complaints were the odd toilet flusher built into the wall and the ceiling-mounted Samsung HVAC unit. I wasn’t sure the cleaners wiped down the flusher, and didn’t want to touch the part everyone’s dirty fingers go into, so I used a tissue over my finger. The unit makes a low sound that could keep a light sleeper awake. There isn’t much shelf space if you have lots of suitcases, and there’s no hairdryer or mini fridge. There is a bottle opener built into the desk, at least, for your warm beers. It’s a cheap, efficient, clean option if you want to avoid Edinburgh Airport and the expensive tourist hotels to the east. A big shout-out to John on staff, who gave me the impression he might be the owner or manager. He’s accommodating and quiet, with a great personality. A five-star guy. The hotel was modern, clean, and the parking worked well for us. I’d have liked a hairdryer, though, and housekeeping woke us by coming into the room at 7am. Aside from that, I’d probably stay again if we’re back in Glasgow.
