Premier Inn Gloucester - Quayside

Dinner was excellent and the restaurant service was great. Check-in was the frustrating part: self check-in wasn’t available, so I waited over 15 minutes for help. When I got to my room, it smelled as though someone had just used the toilet. There was also a little mould around the sink plughole.

We were happy with the meal deal both times we used it, and all but one of the staff were brilliant. A useful tip: we shared a starter and dessert, which gave us a three-course meal from the two-course menu.

The location is great, and despite the problems I had, it’s a good place to stay. The room was clean and nice enough, but there was no way to adjust the temperature beyond 21 degrees or switching it off, so getting comfortable was difficult. Service wasn’t great either. You check yourself in now, and it can be hard to find a receptionist, even for basic things such as arranging a clean, fresh sheets or towels. We asked for the room to be cleaned, but several things were left untouched or unchanged.

We had a plus room and it was amazing, with a bath, fridge and coffee machine. Such good value, and a fantastic hotel in a brilliant location. Costa and the Premier Inn restaurant are right on the doorstep, with Gloucester Quays shopping outlet about a five-minute walk away. There are also restaurants like Zizzi, Pizza Express and the Real Greek nearby. Gloucester Cathedral is around a 20-minute walk, and there are loads of shops on the high street. If you fancy a chilly early morning stroll, there’s a lovely riverside walk too.
