The food was decent and the portions were huge, so order carefully 😂. The kids loved the playground and watching the ponies and goats nearby. The place was very clean, staff were friendly, and it's conveniently just outside Gloucester on the A40. There's a big car park with no extra charge. For a three-star stay, it was great value and I'd come back if I get the chance.

The steak pie was off the scale, and the cider was perfectly chilled 👍. We had a fresh, clean room, and the balcony was a nice extra. In the morning we could see the goats and miniature horse. Staff were friendly and really helpful.

Kayleigh was running the bar by herself when we held a family reunion at the kings head between Christmas and new year, and she looked after us so well. Even with a busy lunch service, all seven of us got attentive service and a fantastic meal. The steak and ale pie and hunters chicken were among the best we've had, and the whopper burger was quite a sight (photo attached). It's always got a good atmosphere, with a homely feel and very good value. We'll be back soon!

The way the manager spoke to us ruined our family day out. We ordered two children's meals at £9 each, and each had only one sausage. When I raised it, her attitude was very bad and there was no attempt to negotiate. We were customers eating and drinking at the pub, and I found the way she spoke to us pretty disgusting. It was very overpriced, and we'll never return. I'd advise future customers to avoid it.

A warm welcome from the staff, a nice atmosphere, and good, plentiful food. There's a good choice of beers, cider and lager too. It's just outside town.
