It was busier than I expected for somewhere so out of the way, and service wasn’t quick, though I hadn’t expected it to be. They say the food is homemade and cooked to order. We were there right at the start of service, and once dishes started coming out, they arrived steadily. Our tomahawk pork and blade of beef were both really tasty, hearty portions, well cooked, with good sauces and generous sides. Inside, there are cosy spaces as well as light, airy ones. I’ll definitely come back in warmer weather to sit by the canal and try more of the varied menu.

The staff were lovely and went above and beyond, and the portions were huge for a fair price. We came in for a late Valentine’s meal this evening, and the food was spectacular. Thanks for a wonderful evening!

A lovely pub by the river, with plenty of parking and dogs welcome. There’s also a children’s play area in the grounds. I had the lamb for Sunday lunch and asked for extra gravy. There was a good choice of meats.

The staff are always friendly, and the bar has a good selection of drinks. It’s especially nice when the wood burner is going. I’ve never had a bad meal here.

The river tables had a lovely breeze, just what we wanted on the hottest day of the year. It’s a great spot. Portions are generous, and the burgers were amazing. I had the Ship, my mum chose the lamb burger, and my dad had the southern fried chicken burger. The chips were lovely too. I tried some of Mum’s lamb burger and really liked it. I’m not usually a big lamb fan, but I’d consider ordering one. The pizza looked great as well.
