We hired kayaks, paddle boats or rowing boats at Llangorse Lake for one or two hours, which I highly recommend if your family enjoys water activities. Pen y Fan was a fantastic family hike with breathtaking views, and the Four Waterfalls Walk had lovely falls and woodland scenery. Brecon, about a 20-minute drive away, has a Morrisons for groceries. Our Large Pod was cosy, clean and comfortable for two adults and our daughter, with what we needed for a short family getaway. The shared self-catering dining area, kitchen and shower rooms were modern, exceptionally clean and well maintained. The peaceful countryside setting was beautiful and great for families with children who like nature and outdoor activities. YHA Brecon Beacons made a wonderful base for exploring Wales, and we'd definitely visit again. It was an affordable, clean and comfortable stay with mountains, waterfalls and activities within easy reach.

The staff were so welcoming, and Abby went above and beyond for everyone, keeping us informed about weather warnings while it was snowing and answering all our questions. The hostel was super clean and friendly. We stayed in Taff, the outside pod, in January, and it was a fantastic time. It was a lovely size for three, warm with a heater, and had comfy mattresses and bedding. Don't let the cold put you off, I'd recommend staying here!

The YHA is in a really beautiful place, and the staff were very friendly and helpful. But it was too expensive: 88€ for a room that was too small, with no hot water in the common shower, and 16€ for a poor breakfast. Those aren't prices for a YHA.

I felt like I belonged there rather than just being a guest. The staff were always ready to help, smiling, and bringing an energy that brightened even cloudy days. Their genuine love for the place and the honest conversations we shared made my four nights at YHA Brecon Beacons unforgettable. The landscape is lovely for walks too. Thank you.

Waking up to those crisp winter views from the heart of the Brecon Beacons was the highlight of my trip. The staff were incredibly welcoming, and breakfast was delicious. Easily one of the best YHA stays I've had.
