The gardens and the area around the fishing lake are gorgeous, and make it easy to switch off and enjoy the countryside. We also tried fishing. It was tough in the hot weather, but after waiting patiently we caught a few lovely carp during a couple of short evening sessions once things had cooled down. There’s plenty to do on site too, including a fantastic indoor pool, sauna, jacuzzi, games room and a traditional snooker and pool room that my son and I especially enjoyed. At the end of May, we had a week of lovely weather, so we made good use of the excellent outdoor pool and the barbecue area beside it. It was our first stay at Malston Mill, but it definitely won’t be the last. Linda and Tony are so friendly and go out of their way to make sure you have an enjoyable visit. The place is a credit to them both, and we’re looking forward to coming back next year. Thank you.

We stayed at Mill Cottage, Malston Mill Farm for a family holiday and found plenty to keep us busy on the farm, so we didn’t go far. My four-year-old especially loved the games room and jacuzzi. The outdoor pool is surrounded by wonderfully scented roses, and the cottage has a fully private garden with a barbecue, which was perfect for our family gathering. Inside, it was immaculate and had everything we needed. The beds felt like clouds, and it was lovely to lie there listening to the birds and the stream. If you do fancy a trip out, there are beautiful towns and beaches nearby. Thanks to our friendly, accommodating hosts. Highly recommended, you won’t be disappointed.

We came looking for a peaceful break, and Malston really does feel secluded, even though there are six cottage-style places for couples and families. It never felt crowded. The comfort and facilities were second to none, and Lyn and Tony clearly put a lot into making guests feel special. Lyn even told us about the mill’s history and how they’ve developed the place. We arrived to a bottle of fizz and two glasses, a lovely touch. Our Lakeside cottage was small but beautifully presented, with tasteful traditional country cottage decor. We’d never tried a self-catering cottage by a lake before and were very glad we did. Lyn met us on arrival, showed us to the cottage and gave us a useful run-through of the oven and shower. After unpacking, we explored. The indoor pool was spotless and just right for August, and the outdoor pool was equally clean, with plenty of space to lay out. Loungers and cushions were provided. The lake looked lovely for fishing, though there was quite a bit of weed from the brook carrying water from nearby farm fields. To Lyn and Tony’s credit, they cleared it most days. There’s a secure, individual lockable outbuilding by the lake where you can leave your fishing gear, which worked perfectly for us. Lyn and Tony have gone the extra mile to make a stay at Malston memorable. If you’re after tranquility and a calming place to stay, this is a great choice. The facilities feel luxurious while still being very affordable. Thank you both for a relaxing, enjoyable visit.

We’ve been coming for ten years, and it’s always lovely to see Tony and Linda again. The location is perfect, and the facilities are fantastic.

We came mainly to fish, and the lake didn’t let us down. There are some gorgeous carp in it, including some lovely weights. Our personal best was a 14.6 lb common, and we also caught some lovely mirrors and the odd leather around that weight. We landed 15 fish in five days, which made us very happy given the windy, rainy weather. I’d come back in a heartbeat. It feels nicely secluded, yet you’re only 15 minutes from the sea. The grounds are stunning, the cottages are delightful, cute, spotless and had everything we needed. Linda goes out of her way to make sure you have a fantastic time, and we were given a bottle of Prosecco on arrival, which made the stay feel even more special. The onsite pools are amazing. The indoor heated pool is one of the best I’ve been in, with stunning design and architecture. There’s also a sauna and gym, pool and snooker tables, bowls, darts, air hockey, table tennis and an outdoor pool. I couldn’t fault the place. We highly recommend Malston mill for anglers bringing family, since there’s plenty to keep everyone else amused too. Well done, Linda and Tony, you smashed it!
