We’d had our booking confirmed since Feb and received a confirmation email Thursday 5th March at 2:20pm. We told the park we’d arrive between 6-7pm. At 5:55pm, after a two-hour drive and with the park just two minutes away, they called to ask if we’d seen their emails saying it was closed because there was no water. We’d received no emails or texts about the closure. At reception, several other guests were in the same position, having travelled without being told. We were then told the park had known about the problem since Thursday morning at around 8:30am, but hadn’t contacted us to say not to come. By then we’d made the journey and brought a full food shop for the weekend. The options offered were a full refund, which could take up to 14 days, or changing our stay dates. They said they could help find somewhere else, but the only suggestion was a Premier Inn. There was no offer to cover the cost, and we’d already bought food for a weekend self-catering booking with you. It was 6pm on a Friday, two hours from home, so we had to urgently book somewhere nearby. The Airbnb dates available meant we had to cut the stay short, and the only place we could get at such short notice cost approximately £100 more than our original booking. It’s completely unacceptable that guests were allowed to travel without being told about the closure when Haven had known since Thursday morning. If we’d been informed at any reasonable point before setting off, we wouldn’t have had these extra costs or the inconvenience. I have evidence of the time of the call. I also just saw, while writing this review, the park reply to another angry customer saying it was closed Friday 6th - Monday 9th 2 DAYS AGO. So they clearly knew before we arrived and made no attempt to let us know. Absolutely shocking. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone and won’t use haven again.

We all had a fantastic time and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The park is in a good location, with excellent facilities, and everything was well maintained. Staff were friendly and welcoming. I’d definitely recommend it and wouldn’t hesitate to return.

There are good options for food and drink. Wetherspoons wasn’t as keenly priced as high street venues, but was good all the same. The location works well for visiting the lower Lakes, though the mobile signal was very poor, which seems quite common in the Lake District. We enjoyed our stay. The accommodation was clean and tidy, the bed was comfortable, and the kitchen had everything needed for self-catering. The TV had good reception and all the terrestrial channels.

I’m still waiting for a reply to my complaint, almost 6 weeks after visiting during an absolute nightmare of a weekend. There was a complete loss of electricity and heating, and I had my two young children and baby with me. It was freezing. When we arrived, nobody told us the power was off. Guests next door told us. We were first told it would be back at 8pm, then midnight, but neither time was right. We had to go to sleep, and the power only came back at 8am the next morning. Updates were sent by text, so anyone whose phone had died was left on their own. Staff handed out bottles of water, but on the second night the bottles were nearly gone. I heard the manager say over the walkie talkie that they were considering closing the site. It was muddy and pitch black. I went to the security desk begging for a torch so we could pack up and leave, because after the first night I couldn’t trust their estimates about when the power would return. I even asked security to remove us from the site so we could use their light to pack our things. Our chilled food went bad and the frozen food was no good. The shop had no fresh or frozen food for sale. We’d paid extra for play passes, but nothing was open, so they were a complete waste. I heard the manager tell security over the walkie talkie to stop whinging. When I said my baby was hungry and needed a bottle, I was told to heat boiled water on the stove in the pitch black.

On arrival, there was no key for the caravan. We ordered food from papa johns at 7pm, with it meant to be ready at 8pm. At 8:30pm we were told there’d be another 90minutes to wait. The entertainment hall was too busy, and we were told to keep coming back because there wasn’t room. The arcade games took money but didn’t give credits. Wetherspoons was packed from opening to closing. Want food? You’d better order months ahead, and it still won’t be ready. Staff were quite rude, and the place wasn’t exactly tidy. Honestly the worst haven I’ve stayed at. I’d save my money and stay in a hostel or something. Wouldn’t send my worst enemy here.
