We felt completely at home at Cartmel Old Grammar. It’s centrally located but still peaceful, ideal for a relaxing getaway. The place is beautifully designed, spotless and thoughtfully prepared, with a cosy feel that blends historic charm and modern comfort. The service was outstanding, friendly and attentive throughout. We had a fantastic three-night stay last December and would highly recommend it.

The staff were so warm, friendly and helpful, and dinner was simply delicious, with a good choice of dishes and wine. Breakfast was tasty too. Our delightful, well equipped room had a very comfortable bed and a lovely shower, plus an Easter treat on the pillow. Wonderful stay, five stars all round!

Cartmel made a great first impression, and we’ll definitely visit the area again. Friendly pubs and people are just a 5-10 minute walk from the hotel, which is right next to the racecourse. We stayed over the bank holiday weekend and loved the spacious rooms, amazing views and really comfortable beds. The food is unbelievable and very reasonably priced, and the sausage rolls are a must! It’s dog friendly and has free parking too. Thanks, Greg and Lauren, for such an amazing place.

The Old Grammar was a beautiful place to stay, with wonderful food, a lovely room, welcoming staff, good drinks and a great location. We were here because we were dining at L’Enclume, which is just a five minute walk from Cartmel centre, along with Rogan & Co and Aulis. Highly recommended, and great value.

We spent my husband's birthday at Cartmel Old Grammar, and Lauren and Greg made it feel really special from the moment we arrived. They even upgraded our room at check-in, which was such a nice surprise. When the rain came down hard, Lauren kindly offered us a lift to where we were going. That was above and beyond. The place is beautifully decorated, with so much care in the details that we wanted to stay in and take it all in. We had wine on the terrace, looking out over the gardens and racecourse, then played games in the cosy bar before heading out around Cartmel. Our room was comfortable and had everything we needed, including lovely flapjack treats. Breakfast in 'The Refectory' was a treat too. There was a great choice of quality continental food as well as cooked options for everyone. We can't wait to try lunch and dinner next time. Huge thanks to Lauren and Greg. This is by far the best hotel we've stayed in, and we can't wait to return.
