The staff were very sympathetic, but it seems they're used to apologising for management. I waited a couple of weeks for the owners to respond and heard nothing. The manager didn't come to speak to customers after breakfast was cancelled without notice, and there was no refund. I found that rude. The en-suite was terrible: black mould in the bath and shower, an old bathroom suite, and a sink tap that didn't work. There was no central heating, and the water system made shocking noises at night. I visit Grantham regularly this year, but I won't stay here again.

The breakfast was good, and the staff were friendly. They also provided a fan for a very hot night, and the reception and dining area were pleasant enough. The location is within walking distance of pubs and restaurants, if Grantham is to your taste. Still, it wasn't a great visit. The room wasn't clean, there was a drain smell from outside, a damp stain on the bathroom ceiling, and the railway runs close by. We won't be back.

The staff were excellent and incredibly welcoming. It's a family-friendly, accommodating place with an obvious connection to the town. The decor is a little tired, but that's a minor gripe for a well-priced stopover. I did feel bad making the poor young lady climb the stairs in stiletto heels just to check something for me straight away.

I was a bit apprehensive after reading some reviews, but the staff were excellent and very helpful, and breakfast was tasty with plenty of choice. The room looked a little tired but was very clean, and for the price it felt like excellent value. The hotel is an easy walk from town, which was a bonus. I'd happily stay here for another break.
