Traveller's Rest Inn

The bar was welcoming, with a coal fire going and friendly locals to chat with. There was a great range of food and drink, and our Sunday roast was exceptional. The place is cosy, and the staff were all brilliant, helpful and friendly. We stayed three nights with our dogs. Our room was a little small for two Labradors, but it wasn’t a problem, and larger rooms are available. It’s a great location for walkers, with easy access around the Lake District. We’ll definitely come back.

We had the short rib and smash burger, both properly cooked, full of flavour and clearly made with care. The drinks were spot on too. Even out of season, the service and attention to detail were there. We felt looked after without it being forced. Great food and drinks, and we’d happily recommend it and return.

The landlord was so helpful, going out of his way to give us directions and point out places of interest along our journey. The pub has a lovely cosy feel with real fires burning. The food was wonderful, well priced, and came out quickly. Highly recommend.

My family were visiting, and after our original plan fell through we booked this pub at the last minute on Saturday, 1 Nov. They were impressed straight away by the atmosphere, service and food, all of which were top rate. We ordered rump lamb from the specials board, steak and two risottos, and everything was great. The sticky toffee pudding and the less usual rice pudding with autumn flavours were spectacular. Thank you, we’ll be back.
