There’s some history about Charles Dickens, who apparently often wrote here, and the cosy interior was well maintained. We came for Sunday roast and the food was spectacular. The staff gave excellent service and let our dog sit inside with us. I’d absolutely dine here again.

A reminder if you visit: enter your car reg when you arrive to avoid a parking fine. We stayed one night at the inn and had a lovely evening. Our room was spacious and warm, with all the facilities we needed, and the restaurant meal was lovely too. The staff were friendly and helpful. The Charles Dickens pictures and memorabilia made the place more interesting, and we’d visit again.

I didn’t stay overnight, so I can’t comment on the rooms. The pub and hotel look attractive, with ivy covering the outside walls, and it’s cosy inside too. The food is very nice, good quality and well presented, though quite pricey. Well worth a visit.

It’s a cute, pretty pub with a nice beer garden, which makes the staff’s attitude a shame. They’re really unfriendly and dismissive. One fairly young barmaid in particular is abrupt and mean, and makes it feel like she doesn’t want you there. Customer service matters, so I probably won’t go again.

The weather spoiled our family walk last Friday (31st October), so we called The Leather Bottle and explained that there’d be six adults, two children, an infant and two dogs. They were welcoming, patient and attentive while we got settled and chose our drinks and food. There was a good choice, including a children’s menu, and our food came promptly. They also brought water for the dogs and provided facilities for feeding the baby. It made for a really enjoyable afternoon. Many thanks.
