We stayed with my sister and a friend, and the location is beautiful. The lovely old hotel was clean, and the staff were friendly and helpful, especially the young lady Millie. We enjoyed the home cooked food and breakfast, just what we needed before a long walk. Our dog was made very welcome too. We'll definitely be back!

We had a clean bed and bathroom, and housekeeper Kelly was so helpful and made us feel at home. We brought our border terrier harry, who was very welcome. The hotel is old and needs updating, but it's in a good spot for visiting places of interest. If you're going to spend your time sitting in the room, don't come, but if you're here to explore, go for it! We'll be back, so thanks to everyone at the kings head. tony& Julie x

We didn't stay at the pub, so I can't comment on the rooms, but the meal was a proper feast. We ordered a small and regular roast beef brisket with cauliflower cheese on the side. The bar attendant brought two huge plates of roast, then came back with a big dish of vegetables and a huge boat of extra gravy. Best Yorkshire pudding we've had in the UK. The red cabbage had some secret ingredients, which I was told about, and my husband, who doesn't eat cabbage, scoffed it. The cauliflower was great too. If the service is as good in the rooms as it was in the pub, you'd have a great stay. Thank you.

There's loads to choose from on the breakfast menu, and the staff are always happy to go out of their way for you. The hotel is lovely and dog friendly, with treats for the doggies too! The food is brilliant, the kitchen deserves five stars.

Right in the centre, the Kingshead was a comfortable place to stay, and they catered for my disability. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, and the bed was very comfy. We had bed and breakfast as well as an evening meal, and the food was fresh, tasty and hot. I loved the authentic atmosphere and felt very relaxed. I'd definitely recommend the hotel, and we'll return.
