The staff were really friendly and had great suggestions. We stopped here during a short stay in Penrith, and the place was amazing. The food was delicious, especially the meat pie, and the portions were generous. The ambiance was great too. Highly recommended!

The pub gets busy in the evenings, so book ahead and maybe order meals in advance. There are nice walks starting nearby and plenty more to see by car. We had a great night's sleep in peaceful accommodation, with perfect beds and linen, warm showers and heating. The lovely couple who run the pub and accommodation include a gorgeous breakfast. The pub's interior is full of interesting memorabilia and stories, and they focus on sustainability and supporting the local community.

A friendly country pub with local ales and absolutely fabulous food. My wife was spoiled for choice thanks to the extensive vegetarian menu, and she really enjoyed the Chickpea & Bean Tagine. I had the Salmon, cooked to perfection 😋.

We picked this place because it's right by our campsite. They let us know clearly from the start that food would be delayed by an hour when we arrived, which was fine. The food was lovely and a great price, and the staff were friendly and helpful. It's dog friendly too, a bonus. Couldn't fault it, and we'd recommend it.

Just keep in mind that check-in isn't until 5pm. We stayed overnight in one of the cabins at The Strickland Arms, which was comfortable and clean, with heating and plenty of hot water. The pub and cabin were fully dog friendly. We had dinner and breakfast at the pub, and both were really good. The evening menu had lots of choice, including pizza, pies and burgers. My chicken stroganoff with rice was really tasty, and breakfast was great too, with a generous portion and good quality.
