3 Bed, Sleeps 8 Caravan, California Cliffs Park

The site was very clean and well maintained, with a good local bakery down the road and the beach close by. The staff were friendly, and my son loved playing on the football pitch. Drinks were very expensive, though that was what I expected. We arrived late and hadn't realised the shop shut so early, so we went to the shop down the road instead. Our clean bronze caravan had a large fridge freezer, a good brand large TV and a kettle with no limescale. The odd thing was the large black bin bag, as there wasn't a large bin, just very small recycling bins. I didn't understand why it was there.

Henry from the activity team was amazing, so friendly and attentive. He made sure my little girl could join in and have fun at cricket, even though she was the smallest and youngest playing. We had a great time. The caravan was brand new and the location was lovely. The pool was meant to be heated, but it could have been warmer.

We'd definitely recommend the place and come back. We were a family group of 11, including seven children, and got the all week action pass for four of them. It was unlimited and good value: they did aqua jets, hover boards, archery, battle blasters, pottery painting and other activities, plus the karts. The Easter sessions were great, and the meet and greets gave us time to take pictures. The caravan was lovely and clean. When the freezer stopped working, someone came within 10 minutes after we called out of hours and sorted it. Staff were great and friendly with the children. Hunter, Archie, Tallulah, Max and Rosie were always smiling, and there were a few others whose names we didn't get. The entertainment girls were great too. Sophie, Mirren, Cara, Erin and Hannah had loads of energy and made all the children feel included. A few things could have been better. The onsite laundrette was closed for most of our week because a part needed fixing, though we were offered a local alternative. The pool was exceptionally cold one day, which wasn't ideal with our youngest children, aged 18 months and three. We booked activities online for the younger children because passes didn't seem the best option for them, with very limited activities for under threes. We turned up for bike tots only to find it had been cancelled without telling us. We were gutted, but got a refund within two days. We checked out the onsite arcade, but preferred the one across the road, the Pink Palace. The Cod Father chippy nearby is worth trying.

This is a typical no frills Parkdean holiday, and it was an affordable base for exploring. Staff we met were friendly and helpful enough. Number 40 Curlew was a modern van in a great spot, about a two minute walk from the main building. It sits among other caravans, though, so access can be tricky if drivers block all the entrances to the centre. The main entrance is a three minute walk away, and you can reach the beach in either direction after about five to ten minutes. The arcade is mainly aimed at children. There's another one across the road, beside a hut selling drinks and food and a Chinese takeaway. Yarmouth town is about a 10 minute drive.
