Fawlty Towers

This was one of the worst places I’ve ever stayed. Our room was full of dust, the bathroom hadn’t been cleaned, and the fan was hanging off the wall. The wardrobes looked like they were falling to bits, as if from the 1800s. My family didn’t sleep a wink, and my son was traumatised. We left after one night of a three-night booking. How has environmental health allowed this place to stay open to the public? It says a lot about Great Yarmouth council that it’s allowed to trade. Absolute disgrace that you’re allowed to be open. I’d give zero stars if I could.

The shower was very small but lovely and hot, and parking was good. The staff were helpful and lovely. The room, though, was quite dusty and very cold because the heating didn’t work. The hair dryer didn’t work either, which was probably for the best as it had no back cover to stop fingers going in. There were big holes in the ceiling tiles, and the fan moved when the people above moved. It looked like it might fall on your head.

The owners were polite, and breakfast tasted great, but the cleanliness was appalling. The rooms were poorly looked after, with curtains hanging off, holes in the ceilings and walls, and a disgusting smell from the toilet. The beds were uncomfortable and felt like they might fall apart when you moved. Both my children came home covered in bed bugs. There was also a smell of drugs as you walked in. Please don’t stay here.

From outside it looked ok, but the room was disgusting when we were shown in. The damp smell was awful, with damp on the walls and ceiling, and the bedding and towels smelled as if they hadn’t been used in months. The carpet was filthy, the leather sofa was old and dirty behind, and the fridge was dirty too. Dust was in the teacups, the bathroom was dirty, and the curtains were coming away from the rail. There were hardly any toiletries: the shower one was empty and the sink one had only a tiny bit left. We paid £90 for the family room and thought that was a good price, but were disgusted when we entered. Awful place to stay. I wouldn’t recommend anyone stay here.
