There was no staff on site, everything was handled remotely, including the electronic locks, so keep that in mind if you might need help. When we arrived, someone was leaving because his room had been given away, which didn’t inspire confidence. I still don’t know if we were lucky or unlucky. Our room was very compact, and I suspect it may have been carved out of a larger room. The bathroom was tiny too, and could be difficult if you’re a larger person. The door was heavy and didn’t always shut properly. On our first night the room was left unlocked. The listing calls the rooms soundproofed, but we could hear everything outside: people walking by, traffic and full conversations from the next room. The bed was hard, and the pillows were practically just air. I tried folding mine over, but it still didn’t support my head, so I used the cushion instead. If you only need somewhere to sleep, you might manage, provided you’re okay with that. It was good value for the location, but I was still disappointed. The listed rainfall shower, 32 inch TV and on-site mini golf weren’t what we found. You could generously call the shower rain-like, and perhaps the TV measured 32 inches around. It’s fine, but I’d stay elsewhere if I could.

At £42 for one night, I put up with a leaking toilet pipe, a very cramped shower and a thin pillow, but I wouldn’t want to stay longer. The building looked tired, as though it hadn’t been decorated since the 80s. I’d booked and checked in online without realizing reception would never have staff there. I had a few questions and had to ring the call centre. The people there were friendly and tried to help, though naturally they didn’t know the rooms or facilities in detail.

We were moved to another hotel, and it was dirty and noisy. We only got the call at 9:30pm the night before because renovations were taking place. The communication was very poor.

There was a big leak in reception, and I couldn’t find any staff to complain to. In our room, every flush made the toilet judder and bang loudly, loud enough, I think, for the whole hotel to hear. There was a burn-like hole in the carpet between the two single beds, dust all over the place, even on the tea tray, and stains and hair on the covers and pillows. The room smelled awful and was freezing because there was no heating. My partner, baby and I were in the family room at the very top of the building. I would never stay here again.
