I travel all over the UK for work and don't ask for much beyond somewhere clean and comfortable. Angel View fell well short. The beds were uncomfortable, the B&B wasn't very clean, and the toilet was dirty when we arrived. There wasn't enough toilet roll either. The kitchen was available to use, but most of the units were broken or dirty inside. There was apparently a housekeeper, a young student who seemed to use the place with his mates however he wanted, at the guests' expense. A continental breakfast was available, but some milk and bread would have been a start. The heating was on when we arrived, then it was cold for all three nights. We won't be back.

Room 4 had a gorgeous view over the town, with French windows opening onto the balcony and garden, just across from the kitchen. I had a wonderful weekend and would definitely return. Storage was limited to a bedside chest with four drawers, which was fine for my weekend, though it could be a problem for a longer stay. Parking was the other issue. I got the available space because I was the first driver there; otherwise you have to park on the street and pay.

The self-serve breakfast, towels, and clean sheets made my Saturday night stay fine. It's cheap and cheerful, with a superb location and panoramic views over Guildford. My one complaint is that contacting the owner is really difficult. Parking only has room for one car unless you don't mind being blocked in.

The doors are incredibly noisy, so bring earplugs if you want to sleep in. It was fine at night, since everyone else was asleep too. The room looked nice and was comfortable enough, with tea and a mini kettle, which is all I need, really. The owners were very nice about everything, even when I wanted to check in five hours early and realised after leaving that I'd left my purse in the room. They let me come back to look for it, and were also happy for me to check in when I wanted.

The host was friendly enough, but the house felt cold and grotty. The bedroom rug had mouldy peanuts on it, and the bathroom was very large, freezing cold, decaying, and dated. The kettle could only be plugged in by crawling under the desk to reach the room's only socket. Soundproofing was poor too, and we could hear other guests talking before sunrise. The kitchen was the one area we saw that didn't need work; everywhere else looked in need of a total refurb, and the garden added to the neglected feel. It's in a great location and could be brilliant with some TLC, but we wouldn't stay again or recommend it. Sorry.
