Rhymney House hotel

We found it a good-value place to stay, and I’d recommend it. The free breakfast was delicious, and the staff were really friendly. It’s also in a great spot for hiking in the Brecon Beacons. One radiator in our room wouldn’t work, so we felt a bit cold at times. Everything else in the room was great.

The staff were lovely, and both the food and beer were cheap, with the food being okay. The rooms let the place down: they’re dated and need a refurb, and I didn’t think much of them. The hotel isn’t the worst, but it wasn’t the best either. I probably wouldn’t stay again because of the rooms.

The room was good for the price, and the hotel and its restaurant/pub felt very friendly. I’d recommend it. The one issue was the internet connection, which wasn’t great. The fastest we got was 1.5 Mbps.

The bed and pillow were among the most comfortable I’ve ever slept on, and I got a great night’s sleep both nights. We stayed for two nights while walking in Bannau Brecionog, and everyone was incredibly friendly and helpful. The hotel and rooms are basic, but everything worked perfectly. The shower was hot, there was soap and fresh towels, and because it was hot they gave us two fans. Breakfast was really good and freshly cooked, with cereal, fruit, juice, tea, coffee and toast as well as a full cooked breakfast. The bar prices were fantastically cheap, £2.85 a pint. I’ve stayed in some swanky places, but I’d definitely come back if I needed to be nearby, and would recommend it to anyone. Great basics at a great price.
