Late check-in for our large group was handled by a warm, professional concierge who helped us find our room numbers and floor, and sent us off with a cheerful “have a lovely stay.” The corridors were easy to navigate, pleasantly fragrant and so quiet they felt almost meditative. Our rooms were cleaner than a choirboy's chin, and the car park view gave us a reassuring eye on where we'd left our vehicles. The vending machine was briefly out of order, though perhaps its confectionery selection wasn't doing anyone's health any favours anyway. This Travelodge sits in historic Newport, with access to the city centre and main transport links, in the heart of the Cymru countryside. Despite the negative, frankly rather naive reviews, our stay was a delight. There was very little to fault, and this place exceeded our expectations. Book a Travelodge with the right expectations and you should get more than adequate service here, even for a One Day Booking. Highly recommended, 15/5 stars! 🌟

I stayed here overnight while visiting Cardiff. The room was basic, but just right for a night's rest, and the comfort was about the same as I'd have got for more money closer in. It was only a short drive to where I needed to go. Sometimes staying a little further from your destination saves you money.

Avoid this place if you want a quiet night's rest. There was music blaring from some rooms, people running up and down the corridor at 3am, and the police were there. The council is housing undesirable people here. I barely slept and had an eight-hour drive the next day, so be aware if you're thinking of staying.

Avoid at all costs. Customer service was shocking and completely unhelpful. We were booked for one night on 26/12/25 while visiting family. A local family member told us not to stay, saying the Travelodge was a drug den, had been raided, and had ongoing issues. I'm registered disabled and have mobility problems, so I couldn't risk it. I'd read reviews saying things were okay over the previous month, but others described problems from late October into November. I paid the saver rate, but still expected customer service to help when I explained that some doors were broken and a few men were sleeping in the corridors. Instead I had to find another hotel 40 minutes away at my own expense. I'm out of pocket because they didn't keep their promise, and I'll be taking this to the local press. I'll never stay again.

The hotel absolutely reeks of weed and urine, and we're extremely disappointed by how bad it smells. Drug addicts and homeless people are always hanging around outside. We were often woken at 5am by loud banging inside the hotel, hard enough that we could see our room's TV shaking, and by arguments full of foul language that sometimes carried on for an hour. It feels incredibly unsafe, especially for women and families with children.
