Ty Castell Guest House

We had the whole guest house to ourselves for two nights while travelling for a wedding. The rooms were clean and well equipped for a guest house. Breakfast was optional, and the owner cooked it fresh every morning, with cereals and fruit also available, along with tea, coffee and fruit juices. Steve was easygoing, friendly and happy to help or answer any questions.

Breakfast was lovely. I had cereal and toast, with a good choice of cereal, fruit, marmalade and jams. The toast was freshly made and hot, and I could get more tea if I wanted. The host was chatty and friendly but also gave me room to enjoy breakfast and the guest house. He also had great suggestions for pubs to eat at and places to visit around town. The owner at TY Castell guest house was extremely welcoming and carefully explained the locking system so I wouldn't get locked out. My bed and pillows were very comfortable, everything was clean and tidy, and there was a nice selection of tea and coffee in the bedroom. Towels and hair and shower gel were provided in a large, clean bathroom. I'd recommend staying here and would come back if I'm in the area again.

Steve was lovely and nothing felt like too much trouble. I arrived at 12pm and he checked me in straight away. Room 2 had a very comfortable bed, TV, strong Wi-Fi, charging points by the bed, tea and coffee facilities and an en suite. The guest house and grounds were spotless, and each room has one parking space. Breakfast was first class. Ty Castell is in a great spot, just a two-minute walk from the town centre and train station. I'll definitely stay again when I'm in the area and highly recommend it.

The view of the hills behind the area was beautiful, and Caerphilly itself is a lovely little place. Steve and the team were excellent. He's a brilliant, very knowledgeable host, both about the local area and the history of the guest house, and couldn't do enough for me. My room was clean, comfortable and had everything I needed. The shower pressure was among the best I've had at a B&B or hotel. Breakfast was cooked just right, a good amount to start the day, and the sausages were incredible. I definitely recommend the guest house for trips to Caerphilly or Cardiff, whether you're travelling alone or with family.
