Wye Valley Hotel

The walks start right across from the hotel, and we caught a bus outside to Monmouth before walking the 12 miles back. A fab day out. Sue’s fish and chips were divine, and so were the pies and broccoli and Stilton soup. The Wye Valley ale was kept like nectar, the beds were comfy, the shower had good power, and there was plenty of parking. Sue, Barry and Grace are lovely hosts. This is old-fashioned hospitality and great value, without boutique hotel pretensions or fancy rooms. Just my kind of perfect weekend enjoying the UK at its best.

I love coming here for a good lunch. It feels warm and welcoming, and I enjoy hearing the kind gentleman talk about the River Wye’s story and beauty.

The window boxes were beautiful, and there are lots of good walks close by. It’s a great spot with plenty of parking. Our room was spotless, with a good shower and comfortable bed, and breakfast offered a fantastic range of choices. The staff were friendly and the service was very good.

We booked this for my partner’s birthday weekend in September 2024. The staff were so friendly and made a real effort to make the stay memorable. Grace kept checking that I felt reassured about my food choices and that we were happy with everything. I have several dietary needs, which usually makes trips stressful, but from my first phone call they were accommodating and put me at ease. There were several breakfast options for me, and dinner was delicious. Looking back, we should have eaten here both nights because the food was amazing. Our room was warm, clean, nicely decorated and lovely. The location works well for exploring Tintern on foot or driving a short way to Chepstow. We’d love to come back with more time to explore further afield.
