Breakfast was lovely, and this was our third time back at the Black Mountain Lodge. It really is a hidden gem. We had a warm welcome, spotless rooms with excellent facilities, and beautiful, peaceful surroundings. We stayed this weekend with family and couldn't have asked for more. Thanks again.

The food and bar are really good, with plenty of drinks to choose from and a wide menu of tasty dishes and desserts. The place itself is beautiful and just down the road from Hay-on-Wye. We've visited once and have already booked to come back in February for our second stay. I'd highly recommend it, you won't be disappointed.

Breakfast was just about OK, but for the price I think this is very good value. The room was comfortable, clean and tastefully done, with a good hot shower and a firm bed. It's a relaxed place, and I would stay again if I were in the area. Tip: try Foyles in the village for dinner.

The room stayed cold even with the heating on. It's an old stone building, so just bear in mind it can be chilly in winter. That was my only complaint about an otherwise absolutely lovely stay. Breakfast was lovely too, and I'll definitely come back.

Sally, the owner, was delightful and we had a lovely chat with her. We loved the rooms, and the breakfast was amazing. It's a fabulous place to stay just outside Hay-on-Wye. Highly recommend it.
