I don't usually write reviews, though I appreciate the people who do. Their reviews have helped me find some lovely overnight stays when visiting family up north. This weekend we tried this place instead of our usual nearby accommodation. It was a bad mistake. Please beware. Don't be taken in by the glowing reviews; they must be fake. The accommodation photos are badly out of date and misleading, and don't show what you'll actually find. The whole experience was horrendous. I don't know how the owner has been allowed to offer such poor service or pass any health and safety checks for guest use. Even finding the entrance is a challenge. The overgrown bushes look awful and feel unsettling when you arrive at night, with no sign that this is the entrance. The website pictures don't match. We were assigned room 2, but nobody was there to greet us. Check-in was handled by text, which we had to chase up after arriving. The room door was left ajar, with no key, and no key was given to us, so there was no security. When we went out for the evening, we had to take our belongings and put them back in the car because we couldn't lock the door. From 6pm and throughout the evening, I rang the host's only mobile number from the website countless times, and also texted and emailed for help. The phone just rang and rang, and we couldn't reach anyone. It was a cold weekend up north, but there was no heating available and the radiators were off. The room smelled damp, the window frame was rotten, and there was a lot of street noise. The coffee and biscuits were two years past their date, and the towels were so hard they couldn't be used. The bathroom isn't really a bathroom, it's a kiosk. The toilet sits at an angle, and the tiny saucer-like sink is impractical and unhygienic because you have to lean over the toilet to use it. The shower sealant was badly broken, as was the sharp plastic plughole. Stepping on it could have caused a serious accident, so we couldn't use the shower. Please don't stay here. I strongly advise booking elsewhere. We wouldn't want anyone else to go through this. Since checkout, I've called repeatedly, but the host still hasn't answered or returned any calls. Avoid it for your safety and security.

I wanted a couple of quiet days away from home to rest, and it was a peaceful stay. The bed was comfortable, and the place was clean and decent. There was no internet, and my phone network wasn't working properly.

Great value, with a lovely room, an excellent bathroom, and tea and coffee facilities. The owner was friendly and helpful. We've stayed here many times; it feels like home.

I found this lady very rude. I was meant to stay over Christmas and in June, with three rooms, but her rude, unprofessional manner and poor business setup made me move my booking elsewhere. There was no communication or customer service. I wouldn't recommend it, especially when there's a proper hotel up the road for the same price, #Cedearcourthotel!!
