The Rock Hotel

Paul, who was serving breakfast in the bar, was polite to everyone and always smiling. The receptionist was brilliant too, had a bit of banter and was honest about the rooms. I'd give parking and hospitality 5/5, and the rooms 4/5. People should keep the price in mind when setting their expectations. Much better than a Travelodge.

We booked two rooms for a funeral after the website made the hotel look like a relaxing place. It turned out there'd been no food or drink for ten weeks because the restaurant and pub had been sold, but nobody told us when we booked. We had to search around an unfamiliar area for somewhere to eat that evening, then find somewhere for breakfast the next morning before getting dressed for the funeral. They gave us £5 each back for breakfast, but advertising bed and breakfast when everything's closed caused us more stress at an already difficult time. The room was unbearably hot too. They said there was a heating problem the plumbers couldn't fix, and while half the hotel was cold, we were in the hottest part. We roasted all night, and the bathroom was horribly hot. I wouldn't recommend this hotel.

Paul was a great help, and we got a good discount on rooms for our guests. The function room was set up beautifully for our wedding reception. The price was very reasonable, and they didn't try to rip us off like a lot of wedding venues do. Many thanks from Adi, Steve and guests xxx

The staff were so friendly and laid-back, and couldn't do enough for us. They were great with our 12-year-old daughter and her best friend as well. We had a lovely three-night stay, the rooms were clean and nice, and we'll definitely book again. Highly recommend.
