I stay here often to visit family, and the place and location are good. My main gripe is the bathrooms. They look like they’ve been patched up, and Green king really should put money into refurbishing them. There are better space-saving options around now. A USB socket in the rooms would be easy to add too.

Breakfast was generous, freshly cooked and delicious, so I’m planning to book again for our next visit. We stayed in the annexe. The room was small and quite dated, and could use some care, but it was clean and comfortable for one night. The bath was very narrow, though we still managed to use it, and there’s an overhead shower as well. The room also had a TV and tea and coffee facilities. It’s in the town centre, with a small car park.

The staff were lovely, but that was the only real positive for me. The place feels very old and worn out, and the rooms slope. We only had warm water, not hot, and the rooms need upgrading. The beds were so uncomfortable that I ended up with back pain. A big let-down for a Greene King.

We arrived the Sunday before New Year’s Eve, and the room was nice, but its main light wasn’t working. I reported it and nothing happened. My husband raised it again on New Year’s Eve and was told it would be fixed. When we got back after visiting family, the light had been repaired, but it was disappointing that it took so long.

Claire and jodie are such friendly, welcoming staff. They’re approachable and accommodating, and always make my visits enjoyable. They’re a real credit to the place.
