Merkister Hotel

The views from every corner of the hotel were fantastic, and the staff clearly take pride in looking after both the place and its guests. I was working on the Orkney Island two weeks ago and had the pleasure of staying at the Merkister for two nights. My workplace had booked a single room, but the woman at the front desk, whose name I didn't get, upgraded me free of charge. The staff seemed to go out of their way to help. Breakfast smelled fantastic, though I had to leave for work before it was served. They packed me a generous lunch, ready before I left. Thanks so much for everything during my stay. I'd recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the area. Absolutely fantastic place.

My parents were delighted with their Golden Anniversary meal at the Merkister. The team couldn't have been more helpful or accommodating. When we arrived, the table looked beautiful, with confetti, a card, and a gorgeous bunch of flowers. I'd dropped off little sweetie favours earlier, and they'd placed one at each setting. The food was delicious, and Debbie, our lovely waitress, was so nice to chat with and made the whole evening feel even warmer and friendlier. I can't recommend the Merkister enough. Thanks again.

We found this place at the last minute after another hotel let us down. The staff were really friendly, the food was good, and the location was lovely. They were accommodating with me and the kids and made sure we had everything we needed. We'd stay again.

The food was excellent and very well cooked, with the seafood a real highlight. There was a steadily changing selection, too. We stayed three nights at this comfortable, friendly hotel. The dining room and several bedrooms look out over the loch, with Hoy in the distance. Plenty to recommend it, and good reason for us to return.
