Innkeeper's Lodge Harrogate - West , Beckwith Knowle

The Pine Marten in Harrogate is beautiful, and our room was very cosy. Everyone on staff was welcoming and friendly, and breakfast was great. We’d love to come back.

RHS Harlow Carr was the reason for our one-night visit, and the hotel was perfectly placed for seeing the Glow. The rest of the stay was a letdown. Our room was freezing on one of the coldest nights of the year, and there was only a thin duvet, no spare blankets. We ended up using bath towels and our puffer coats to stay warm. We'd booked dinner, but weren't given a table in the restaurant. At 7:30pm, two menu choices were unavailable, and the pork medallions we ordered were tough. The fire near where we ate went out, so that room got cold too. We were in room 7, separated from room 8 by only a studding wall. The people in room 8 kept us awake until 5:30am. I'm no prude, but hearing that for hours wasn't pleasant. We won't be back.

We had dinner at the hotel on both nights, and the food looked first class, tasted top notch, and came with service that was second to none. Breakfast was included, freshly cooked, and offered plenty of choice. Our room was just the right size, spotless and fresh, with a clean, well-presented bathroom and a massive shower. The staff were friendly, and there's a bus into town for the 3 1/2 mile trip. Nothing to complain about. We'd happily recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Harrogate or the surrounding area. Great rooms and amazing food.

We really appreciated the staff who helped dig our van out of the snow on Sunday morning. Dinner was excellent, with a good wine selection, though it took a while for someone to take our first drinks order. Breakfast was excellent too. The restaurant and bar are huge!
