The Old Rectory

I travelled for a music event, and the venue was only a few minutes' walk away. The staff even offered to walk me there when I asked for directions, then checked in the next morning to ask how my evening had gone. So thoughtful, and they remembered! After my 5.5-hour solo drive, I arrived exhausted and was offered tea in the lounge right away. A pot of tea, a slice of cake and the roaring log fire soon perked me up, while someone whisked my case up to my room. I had a beautiful second-floor room overlooking the garden, with lots of thoughtful touches: lovely bathroom toiletries, a robe, a hairdryer, and cosy hot water bottles if I wanted to snuggle up. The bed was so comfortable that I slept well, even though I usually don't, and woke much later than I expected. Breakfast was amazing too, with home-smoked fish and homemade sausages, beautifully presented and delicious. I didn't need to eat again until I got home that evening. I loved it and highly recommend this hotel.

The staff made our weekend extra special, and breakfast was amazing. Natalie was an exceptional host, with Emily alongside her, and Chef Yanik welcomed us and accommodated all our breakfast requests. He even went out of his way to make sure we were parked and settled after we had to negotiate getting to the hotel during the Hastings Carnival Parade. We were also given accurate local information. That's the right amount of customer service, with people willing to go the extra step to make your stay perfect. Thank you all for a lovely weekend.

We chose the Old Rectory for our wedding and it was just right for having our nearest and dearest together. The gardens are incredibly beautiful, and their marriage license meant we could hold a simple ceremony there. Our guests all agreed the breakfasts were outstanding, and the rooms were lovely too. Natalie runs the place with easy confidence, always reassuring and never making anything feel like too much trouble. It's a charming, homely and friendly escape from the everyday hustle and bustle. We love the Old Rectory!

On 27th July, we had afternoon tea in the lovely garden behind the house. The cakes and sandwiches were delicious, and Emily was friendly and helpful throughout. It was relaxing, and great value for the quality of the food and service. We'd highly recommend it!
