Vive Hotel

The beds were comfortable and the shower was really nice. The room felt modern, clean, and safe, and the staff were helpful with reception open around the clock. It’s right in the town centre, too. For £49, I loved my stay.

The reception staff were really friendly and the hotel feels new, but our room was uncomfortably hot. We mentioned it and got a fan, though the heating needed to be turned down much more. We booked for three and asked for large beds. Instead, there were two single beds and a double foldout couch on the floor. Its end legs were broken, so it wouldn’t lie flat, and there was no pillow or blanket for it. Disappointing for £100 a night.

My room is still listed, now at a higher price than I expected, but my stay was cancelled out of the blue through Airbnb.com just two days before I was due to arrive. They gave no alternative arrangements and no reasonable explanation for what happened.

Three days before check-in, on what was probably Hastings’ busiest weekend of the summer, we got an automated message saying our booking was cancelled due to ‘works’. There was no email or personal message, and no one answered the phones. Voicemail was full, so we couldn’t even find out about a refund. Truly awful service. Don’t ever book here.
